Quick answers about how Just Cooked works.

Getting started

Just Cooked is a calm food app for the days food feels hard. Instead of a rigid plan, it helps you find one doable meal at a time, built around what you have, what you love, and how much effort you have today.
Anyone whose relationship with food has some friction, from the everyday "what do I even cook tonight" to the harder days when food feels like too much. You start where you are, and the app meets you there with no judgement.
Most food apps assume the hard part is finding a recipe. Just Cooked is built around the moment food actually feels hard. It gives you one next step instead of a week of pressure, and a system instead of willpower.
No. The whole idea is consistency over perfection. Your next meal matters more than a perfect plan. It is warm and low pressure, and designed never to shame you.

How it works

Tap the centre Next Meal button and follow three calm steps. Tell us what you fancy, tweak how it is made if you want, and pick where it comes from, like your pantry, a photo of your ingredients, or just an idea. You see a summary of exactly what will be cooked, then tap Create meal.
Yes. Choose Snap ingredients, take a photo or pick one from your library, and the app reads what is there. You confirm everything on a quick check screen, where you can remove, fix, or add anything before it cooks.
No. If you would rather not, choose "From an idea", describe what you feel like, and Just Cooked builds a recipe from your request alone, with no pantry list needed. Adding your pantry just lets it cook around what you already have.
Yes. Add a cover photo, the story behind it, time, difficulty, servings, ingredients, and steps. Steps can be typed, added as photos, or just a link, so your family and online favourites live alongside the ones the app suggests.

Support and how you feel about food

No. Just Cooked is not a medical or therapeutic tool, and it is not a substitute for professional care. It is a warm companion for the days food feels hard. If you are struggling, it gently encourages you to reach out and can point you toward verified support lines and professionals.
A calm toolbox for the hard food moments. Depending on what you shared during setup, it can include a panic and grounding flow with breathing and people to call, a one-tap "I need to eat", Gentle mode to soften the app, takeaway savings, and an optional weekly focus. You choose which tools show.
For the days when eating feels like too much, it finds a simple meal you can make in about five minutes from what is already in your pantry. No calorie numbers and no decisions. Any amount counts. If your pantry is empty, it gently suggests grabbing something simple instead.
Only if you want it to. Calories and protein are off by default and shown per recipe, and Gentle mode can hide numbers, streaks and goals. If your answers suggest food has felt really hard, the number tools are not recommended to you and stay hidden. Just Cooked is not a diet or calorie-counting app.

Pricing and privacy

No. If your subscription lapses you keep read-only access to your saved recipes, pantry, profile and cooking history. You will just be asked to resubscribe to use AI features like generating new recipes or scanning.
Yes. Your cooking history is a private grid just for you. You can hide individual cooks, restore them later, or delete them. If you choose to share a recipe, only you can see who saved or cooked it. There is no public feed, followers, or comments.
